1.  Q. Are pMg and MAX natural?

A. Yes and No…It depends on how you think of “natural.”  Yes: Both pMg and MAX are a unique and patented blend of natural organic raw materials (such as vitamin C) and natural inorganic mineral elements (such as magnesium and zinc), the bioflavonoids and tablet-forming materials are from vegetable sources, and the tablet coating is a natural vegetable-based coating, which together impart a slightly speckled natural appearance to the tablets.  No: All supplements are man-made.  You can’t just pick a formed supplement tablet off of a tree, or grow some in your garden.  The ingredients may come from nature, but it takes people to make them into supplements.

2.  Q. Who should consult their doctor before taking pMg or MAX?

A. If pregnant or lactating, or otherwise under the care of a physician, or a medical condition exists, especially compromised kidney or digestive tract function, or sensitive to any ingredient, consult your doctor before taking Potentiated Magnesium (pMg) or Go To The MAX and, of course, keep out of the reach of children.  Because the kidneys help regulate how much magnesium is in the blood, those who have compromised or abnormal kidney function should check with their doctor before taking any form of magnesium.  A compromised digestive tract can interfere with magnesium uptake (as can the taking of calcium supplements, which also interferes with magnesium uptake).  Magnesium can interfere with the uptake of certain medications, but this can usually be overcome by taking them at different times (your doctor or pharmacist can guide you).  If any of these conditions exist, it is always prudent to check with your doctor before taking any dietary supplement, including pMg or MAX.

3.  Q.  How much pMg should I take?

A. That depends on your objective.

General & Heart Health Support: Most knowledgeable doctors and researchers suggest an intake level of 1,000 mg of magnesium per day, and about 2,000 mg of vitamin C per day – in divided doses.  That is the amount of magnesium and vitamin C in eight tablets of pMg, and at that intake level one bottle of pMg (with 240 tablets) is a one-month supply.  That level of intake is seen as a standard intake level for general and heart health support for most people.

Maximum Heart Health Support: An intake level of 2,000 mg of magnesium per day from pMg (in divided doses) is believed to provide strong support for the normal health and function of the cardiovascular system.  A maximum intake level up to 3,000 mg of magnesium per day from pMg (in divided doses), taken for at least 6 months, up to a maximum of one year, has demonstrated in the pMg patents to provide a maximum level of support for the normal function of the cardiovascular system, arterial function, and normal circulation.  (The multiple-bottle discounts on the Special Online Discount Prices page are especially designed to accommodate those who wish to take pMg at higher intake levels.)

Respiratory Function Support: As little as 1-4 tablets of pMg per day supports normal respiratory function.  Important Note: pMg is not for acute respiratory distress or malfunction, and is not a substitute for appropriate intervention.

Each tablet of pMg is standardized to contain 125 mg of elemental magnesium and 250 mg of vitamin C.

4.  Q.  I’m a first-time user of pMg.  What do I need to know?  What about fiber?

A. The most important things to know are: (1) Start by taking 1 pMg tablet a day, and gradually increase to desired dose over a period of 3-4 weeks to allow body adaptation; (2) Take with plain water that is cool or cold, not other beverages and especially not with hot water or hot beverages; (3) Take with or immediately after a meal; (4) Do not exceed taking 4 tablets at a time; (5) At higher daily amounts, bracket meals (i.e., half the dose immediately before the meal, and the other half immediately after the meal); and, (6) If especially sensitive to magnesium, take immediately after taking a serving of psyllium fiber to divert the hydrophilic effect (psyllium fiber is a stronger hydrophilic than magnesium).  Plus, the daily intake of dietary fiber (especially psyllium fiber) has other health benefits:  Naturally works with how the human body normally functions (without creating a dependence), supports the normal function of the GI tract, and new research suggests fiber may have anti-inflammatory properties (Reference: “New Study: Increasing Your Fiber Intake Can Reduce Inflammation,” Larissa Long, Live in the Now, March 19, 2012).

5.  Q.  Is there a way to accelerate the benefits derived from taking pMg?

A. Yes.  The benefits derived from taking pMg can be accelerated by following the guidelines in “The Five Pillars of Health” and “Accelerating The Benefits” in the Product Section of the Natural Health Directory.

6.  Q.  Can pMg relieve a muscle cramp?

A. Yes.  pMg can quickly stop a muscle cramp while it is actually happening.  It does so in two ways: (1) With the muscle relaxing quality inherent in magnesium; and, (2) With the electrolyte effect inherent in magnesium.  To relieve a muscle cramp that commonly occurs in the extremities, take two pMg tablets with a cup or more of an electrolyte replenishment drink (such as Gatorade) or water enhanced with electrolytes (such as Smart Water), and the cramp will usually disappear in about a minute or less.  You can make your own electrolyte replenishment drink by mixing in a cup of water the contents from one 99 mg potassium capsule, a quarter teaspoon of salt, and one teaspoon of sugar.  In addition to relieving the muscle cramp, pMg can also help prevent it from returning.  Some have found muscle cramp relief with a topically-applied magnesium foam known as Theraworx Relief.

7.  Q.  How much MAX should I take?

A. Exercised Muscle Strength: The optimum dose of MAX is 4 tablets taken at bedtime, on a day that you have worked out (or engaged in physical activities).  As with pMg, start with taking 1 tablet of MAX a day and gradually increase to the optimum daily dose over a period of 3-4 weeks, and take with cool or cold plain water.  Great results have also been achieved by those who regularly workout and take up to 4 tablets of MAX before working out, in addition to the 4 tablets at bedtime (after gradually increasing to that level).  However, if taking more than 8 tablets of MAX a day for longer than 6 weeks, it is important to also take 1 or 2 mg of copper a day (usually available in a good multi-vitamin/mineral supplement) to prevent a copper deficiency (which can cause neurological damage and lack of muscle coordination).

A. Boosting the Immune System: The optimum dose of MAX is up to 8 tablets a day, taken after meals in divided doses, with cool or cold plain water.  Anytime zinc is taken in excess of 50 mg a day, for more than 6 weeks, it is important to also take 1 or 2 mg of copper a day to prevent a copper deficiency.  MAX has been adjusted so that 8 tablets of MAX provides 40 mg of zinc.

A. General Health: The optimum dose of MAX is 4-8 tablets a day (which provides 20-40 mg of zinc respectively), taken after meals in divided doses, with cool or cold water.

Each tablet of MAX is standardized to contain 125 mg of elemental magnesium, 250 mg of vitamin C, and 5 mg of elemental zinc.

Warning: Mild GI tract distress can occur at doses of 50 mg or more of zinc per day, and at intake levels of 225 mg or more per day acute zinc toxicity has been known to occur.  Do not exceed the recommended amount of zinc per day from all sources, including from food and from supplements combined.  Never take more than the recommended optimum dose of zinc for the specific purpose intended.  (For more information about the mineral zinc, see the “Zinc” listing under Magnificent Minerals in the Natural Health Directory.)

8.  Q.  Is MAX a steroid or have steroid effects?

A. Absolutely not.  MAX is made from natural essential nutrients (vitamin C, magnesium and zinc) and is not a steroid or have anabolic steroid effects.  MAX does not directly increase muscle mass (the way heart-damaging steroids do), but rather naturally increases exercised muscle strength, endurance, power, and speeds recovery from exercising or engaging in physical activities.  And because of the vitamin C and zinc content, MAX also boosts the immune system (which also helps speed recovery from working out or physical activities).  Because of the muscle strengthening quality of MAX, it also helps strengthen the most important and hardest working muscle in the body – the heart.  MAX is a real boon to the serious athlete and the weekend warrior alike.

9.  Q.  Can both pMg and MAX be taken?

A. Yes.  Take up to 4 tablets of MAX at bedtime, and your usual dose of pMg in divided doses after meals.  (See the Answer to Question 3 above for suggested pMg intake amounts, and the Answer to Question 7 above for suggested MAX intake amounts.)

10.  Q.  How long will the benefits last that are derived from taking pMg and/or MAX?

A. The benefits are daily dose dependent.  That is, for as long as you continue taking pMg and/or MAX you will continue to receive their benefits.

11.  Q.  Should I stop taking other magnesium supplements while taking pMg and/or MAX?

A. Yes.  You will get all the magnesium you need from pMg for optimum heart health support, and from MAX for maximum exercised muscle strength support.  Extra magnesium from other supplements will be counterproductive, and will probably have a laxative effect.

12.  Q.  Should I stop taking calcium supplements while taking pMg and/or MAX?

A. Yes.  Recent research indicates that an excess intake of calcium (from an improper diet and calcium supplements) contributes to unbalanced calcium metabolism (the underlying cause of calcium deposits in soft tissues), which primarily affects the cardiovascular system and kidneys.  Calcium supplements also inhibit the uptake of magnesium, and it is magnesium that balances calcium metabolism.  It is now believed that a well-balanced diet can provide all the calcium an adult needs for normal good health, and when coupled with regular exercise will support and help maintain bone strength.  (For more information, please see “Unbalanced Calcium Metabolism” and “The Role of Calcium” in the Health Research Section of the Natural Health Directory.)

13.  Q.  Does MAX also have heart-health benefits?

A. Yes, but not to the same extent as pMg.  MAX contains the essential mineral zinc (and pMg does not) and there is a limit as to how much zinc can be safely consumed each day on an ongoing basis - which is 40 mg a day.  This limits how much MAX can be taken, which automatically limits how much heart-healthy magnesium and vitamin C is taken in.  MAX is specifically designed to support exercised muscle strength (both skeletal muscle and cardiac muscle) and boost the immune system (which also helps speed exercise recovery), while pMg is specifically designed to support heart health and respiratory function.  It is okay to take both pMg and MAX, but only while observing the intake guidelines and limits of each (as indicated above in the answer to the questions: “How much pMg should I take?” and “How much MAX should I take?”).  They each have their own primary purpose:

pMg is primarily targeted for Cardiovascular Health and Respiratory Function Support.
MAX is primarily targeted for Exercised Muscle Strength and Immune System Support.

However, there is significant overlap of support for structure/function benefits when taking both pMg & MAX.

14.  Q.  Magnesium supplements have always had a laxative effect on me.  Will I be able to take pMg or MAX okay?

A. This is one of the major differences between Potentiated Magnesium and any other supplemental form of magnesium.  Magnesium is inherently hydrophilic.  That is, it naturally attracts and holds water in the GI tract, which is what causes its laxative effect.  However, the unique and patented way in which pMg is formulated (which is known as the Compound Complex process) successfully overcomes the inherent hydrophilic nature of magnesium.  This is why pMg has an unprecedented 100% Uptake (not just bioavailability but actual uptake) – regardless of dose.  This is one of the key patented features of pMg.  In our human uptake studies, we have found that about 90% of those who have taken pMg have no problems whatsoever.  Even those 10% who were especially sensitive to magnesium could substantially increase their magnesium intake when they followed the guidelines for taking pMg (see “How To Take pMg or MAX” in the Product Section of the Natural Health Directory).  Interestingly, there are some who say they like the laxative effect of ordinary magnesium.  However, what they are missing is that when ordinary magnesium produces its laxative effect then most of the magnesium is eliminated (literally) and wasted, instead of being delivered to the cells where it is needed.  Plus, the laxative effect can also inhibit the proper uptake of other nutrients – the basic raw materials the human body needs to function and thrive.  Much better than using ordinary magnesium for its laxative effect is to consume adequate dietary fiber daily from fiber-rich foods, and psyllium fiber if needed.

15.  Q.  I am sensitive to the grain protein gluten and as a result cannot consume foods or supplements that contain gluten.  Will I be able to take pMg or MAX okay?

A. Maybe.  It all depends on how sensitive you are.  pMg and the pMg-based products do contain a very small amount of barley protein extract in the formula.  So far, we have only come across one individual whose sensitivity to gluten was so extreme that it prevented that person from taking pMg.  We always recommend that anyone with a compromised digestive tract (or kidney function) should check with their doctor before taking pMg or any magnesium product.  Plus, remember, all Maxcelint supplements come with a 100% Satisfaction Guarantee (see Shopping Cart for details).

16.  Q.  What type of facility produces pMg and MAX?

A. All Maxcelint Natural Nutritional Supplement products are produced in GMP Certified, FDA-inspected, state-of-the-art dietary supplement manufacturing facilities in the U.S.A., and each production run is inspected, re-tested, and certified by an independent outside lab for purity and potency.

17.  Q.  Is the date that is stamped on the bottle a true indication as to its actual shelf life?

A. No.  The dates that are on dietary supplements are mandated by the FDA and are either the date of manufacture or the expiration date.  Our supplements use the date of manufacture.

Regarding shelf life: pMg has been tested by an independent outside lab and has been shown to have retained full-labeled potency in excess of six (6) years, while in-house testing has demonstrated full-labeled potency retained in excess of ten (10) years.  This means that freshness and full-labeled potency will be maintained for many years beyond when the product will likely be used.  Plus, all pMg-based nutritional supplements come with a 100% satisfaction guarantee.

To maintain product freshness, always store in a cool, dry place with lid tight (and always out of the reach of children), and avoid product exposure to moisture and direct sunlight which will shorten its shelf life.

18.  Q.  Are pMg or MAX tested on animals?

A. No.  All testing and research studies were conducted on living human beings.

19.  Q.  Is there a single resource that provides useful information on all the nutrients?

A. Yes.  Please see “The Complete Nutrient Directory” in the Nutrient Resource Section of the Natural Health Directory for detailed information on all nutrients, and “Nutrients-At-A-Glance” for a concise listing of all nutrients, what they primarily do, and suggested intake amounts.

20.  Q.  How important are exercise and other lifestyle changes for an increased Health Span?

A. Very.  To achieve the maximum benefits and to naturally increase your Health Span (healthful longevity), as well as prevent premature aging and slow the aging process, it is important to incorporate as many of the elements as possible that are fully detailed in “The Five Pillars of Health” in the Product Section of the Natural Health Directory:

1.  Proper Nutrition (The Basis);
2.  Regular Exercise (The Catalyst);
3.  Adequate Sleep (The Replenishment);
4.  Stress Management (The Support);
5.  Vital Nutrients (The Key).

The most important “Vital Nutrients” thought to help increase the Health Span and to especially benefit cardiovascular health include: Magnesium, Zinc, Vitamin C, Vitamin E, Vitamin B Complex, CoQ10, Omega-3 fatty acids, the herb Hawthorn, and the blood flow modulator Nattokinase (note that because of their blood thinning properties, those on blood thinning medications should only take Vitamin E or Nattokinase with their doctor’s approval and guidance).  In regards to “Regular Exercise” (which are dirty words to some), it is like having money in the bank that you can draw upon and use later.  The highest rate of return (i.e., the return on investment) is from engaging in regular Walking or Runwalking and regular Weight Training and incorporating Interval Training.  The more you invest now, the more you can draw upon and use later.  Not incorporating these elements into your daily life now will shorten your Health Span later.

21.  Q.  What is the first thing I will likely notice from taking pMg?

A. More energy and more restful sleep.  Most people who take pMg notice an increase in energy, usually within a few days, with an eventual return of youthful vitality.  And the energy increase is a natural increase in energy (derived from the interaction of magnesium ions with the mitochondria-produced energy molecule ATP to form the complete energy complex MgATP), as opposed to the kind of artificial and temporary stimulation derived from caffeine and sugar.  Plus, the muscle relaxing quality of pMg tends to help support a natural and more restful sleep if taken before bedtime.  pMg also tends to help normalize blood pressure, and assist in normal glucose uptake.  pMg lives up to its trademark: “Youthful Vitality Forged From Nature’s Strength.”

22.  Q.  Can anything else provide the same heart health benefits as pMg?

A. No.  Contrary to heavily-promoted oral chelation, it simply doesn’t work.  On the other hand, doctor-administered IV chelation works quite well, primarily for removing toxic heavy metals.  Its use strictly for heart health has had mixed results.  When used as an adjunct with other modalities (such as EECP and hyperbaric therapy) it has been useful for blood flow.  Doctor-administered IV chelation is especially useful for removing toxic lead buildup (as well as mercury buildup), which is believed to impair heart health.  (Reference: “Get the lead out” K. L. Carlson, NaturalNews.com, Mar. 12, 2011)

23.  Q. How important is pMg for heart health?

A. Very.  pMg strongly supports the balance, stability, structural integrity, and normal function of the cardiovascular system – and is the world’s only magnesium supplement that has successfully overcome the inherent hydrophilic nature of magnesium, thus avoiding magnesium’s usual laxative effect, allowing 100% Uptake and delivery to cells.  In its patents, pMg has demonstrated enhanced uptake and profound heart-health support and benefits.  (Reference:  U.S. Patents 5,849,337 and 6,372,264).

24.  Q.  How important are “The Five Pillars of Health”?

A. Very.  They are so important that they have been shown to accelerate the heart and artery health support aspects of taking pMg.  (1) Proper Nutrition, (2) Regular Exercise, (3) Adequate Sleep, (4) Stress Management, and (5) Vital Nutrients are “The Five Pillars of Health,” and are truly the basic foundation upon which robust good health is built.

25.  Q.  Can I still benefit taking pMg or MAX if I don’t exercise or eat healthy?

A. Yes.  Most people are deficient in magnesium and vitamin C, and many have an insufficient intake of zinc to properly support the immune system at an optimum level.  pMg and MAX provide these essential nutrients (which the human body does not produce on its own) in an extremely usable form – and with 100% Uptake.

26.  Q.  How does pMg and MAX have 100% Uptake?

A. In two ways.  First, it is because of the unique and patented Compound Complex process that essentially duplicates the way Mother Nature changes an inherently inorganic mineral from the earth (magnesium and zinc) into a highly bioavailable organically bound mineral, just like the way they are naturally found in plant foods.  Second, in the case of magnesium, the Compound Complex process successfully overcomes magnesium’s inherent hydrophilic nature, and in so doing prevents it from producing the laxative effect usually encountered when taking meaningful quantities of supplemental magnesium.  In addition, the Compound Complex process imparts an unparalleled Supercharged Synergy between all the nutrients in pMg and MAX that dramatically heightens their effectiveness.  This is why the nutritional supplements made using the Compound Complex process are considered “The Best of Mother Nature blended with modern science.”  The Compound Complex process is quite revolutionary, and is an evolutionary extension of the process first suggested by Dr. Linus Pauling in his text “The Nature of the Chemical Bond.”

27.  Q.  Does pMg affect the body’s acid/alkaline balance?

A. Yes, but in a good way.  The internal acid/alkaline balance (pH balance) is strictly maintained by the body within a very narrow range (7.36 to 7.44 pH).  Maintaining this proper pH balance is critically important for life to be sustained.  It is so important that if the diet consists primarily of acid-forming foods (such as meat, dairy products, sodas, sugar-laden foods, refined carbs, and junk food), and is not balanced with alkaline foods (such as plant-based foods like veggies, fresh fruit, legumes, whole grains, nuts and seeds), then the body will rob the bones of its alkaline minerals (primarily calcium) to provide the critically needed balance.  This is how a steady diet of acid-forming food contributes to bone-weakening conditions, and also contributes to unbalanced calcium metabolism which can adversely affect the heart, arteries, kidneys and eyes.  When adequate pMg is ingested and its nutrients are assimilated, the alkaline magnesium portion helps maintain the proper pH of the blood, helps spare calcium drain from the bones, and balances calcium metabolism.  Also, there is accumulating evidence that suggests the regular consumption of alkaline foods and alkaline minerals (such as magnesium), along with vitamin D, may be an important factor in the normal function, health, and possible protection of the GI tract.

28.  Q.  Is pMg good for the bones?

A. Yes, especially for older adults.  Magnesium is known to help make bones tough and flexible (and as a result, more resistant to breakage), whereas excess calcium, especially from calcium supplements, tends to make bones brittle (and as a result, more susceptible to breakage).  Plus, the vitamin C content of pMg naturally supports bone remodeling because of it being a necessary component of collagen formation, the basic substance from which bone is formed (which is then hardened by mineralization).

29.  Q.  Can pMg or MAX boost the immune system?

A. Yes.  With virus pandemics and an increased level of ambient radiation being omnipresent (and uppermost in our minds lately), and likely to be so for sometime to come, one of the best forms of protection available might well be to boost our immune system.  Magnesium is an immune system modulator, and as such provides balance to the immune system.  Vitamin C is widely recognized as a staple of the immune system, and has also set the standard for antioxidants by which all others are compared.  Zinc is the one mineral that is well-known as being essential for boosting the immune system.  pMg with its advanced magnesium and vitamin C content, and especially MAX with its advanced magnesium, vitamin C, and zinc content, strongly support the immune system.  They also contain powerful antioxidants that help mop up highly reactive molecules called reactive oxygen species (ROS), also know as free radicals, that can be caused or contributed to by radiation toxicity.  It is the ROS that damage cells, while the antioxidants help protect cells.  Blood vessel strengthening bioflavonoids (such as those provided by rose hips, rutin and hesperidin) have a strong synergy with vitamin C and are thought to help protect DNA from damage.  Kelp (the sea vegetable) and chlorophyll (the green plant pigment) are thought to afford a degree of protection from radiation.  Interestingly, the central atom that holds the chlorophyll molecule together is magnesium, which is an immune modulator that helps bring balance to the immune system.  (Note that potassium iodide is only useful for those directly exposed to radiation, and can be toxic if administered improperly.)

30.  Q. Isn’t pMg a little pricey for a magnesium supplement?

A. Yes…if it was just an ordinary magnesium supplement, which it is not.  pMg contains twice the vitamin C as it does magnesium, an abundant amount of synergistic bioflavonoids, and a host of other formulation nutrients (view the label for details).  Importantly, the magnesium it does contain is far from being ordinary magnesium.  The magnesium content of pMg is the only supplemental form of magnesium that does not produce a laxative effect.  So, instead of literally being eliminated, the magnesium in pMg is fully assimilated and delivered for proper utilization by the cells.  No other magnesium supplement on the planet can match the 100% Uptake of pMg.  Most importantly, pMg is the only supplemental form of magnesium that has demonstrated profound beneficial support for the health and normal function of the cardiovascular system (as fully detailed in its worldwide patents), plus providing support for the structure and normal function of a host of bodily systems.  In addition, pMg (and MAX) contains 240 tablets per bottle, which is more than most supplements contain.  Plus, the Special Online Discount Prices on the Maxcelint Online Store offer multiple discounts, up to an astonishing 40% discount.

Plus, in addition to getting an advanced form of magnesium in each tablet, you are also getting an advanced form of vitamin C.  In each tablet of pMg there is Potentiated Magnesium and Potentiated Vitamin C.  In each tablet of MAX there is Potentiated Magnesium, Potentiated Vitamin C, and Potentiated Zinc.  With pMg and MAX you get a lot more than just magnesium.

Considering the unique Compound Complex formulation process that imparts a never-before-seen supercharged synergy to the ingredients (with the formulation, purity and potency tested and certified by an independent outside lab), its unparalleled heart health and arterial function benefits, the unmatched 100% Uptake without producing magnesium’s well-known laxative effect, its extraordinary power and effectiveness, and given its ability to support a full-spectrum of normal health functions, prevent premature aging and extend the human Health Span, with all of these aspects being covered in the one-of-a-kind pMg worldwide patents, it would seem that pMg and the pMg-based products may actually be the best bargain around for the support of natural health and normal body function, and to help support and maintain the body’s natural balance, stability, structural integrity, and normal function.  Plus, all Maxcelint supplement products come with a 100% Satisfaction Guarantee (see Shopping Cart for details).

31.  Q.  What is Orthomolecular Biochemistry Research?

A. It is the scientific study of nutrients such as vitamins and minerals and how they function in the human body on the most basic cellular and molecular level.

32.  Q.  What is the difference between Dietary Supplements and Nutritional Supplements?

A. There is no difference.  The term “Dietary Supplements” has been designated and mandated by the FDA.  However, some find the term a bit confusing, thinking it has something to do with “dieting” which of course it does not.  Some within the industry prefer the term Nutritional Supplements so as to help alleviate that possible confusion.
